Abundance: film screening + community conversation
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
From fridges to the farm, join us to watch three short films highlighting grassroots change in our food systems. Hear from local experts on their work + learn how you can get more involved. While we can’t solve systemic challenges in one event, we can better understand how these systems work + start creating change. Who is to say we’re not the hero we’ve been waiting for?
The Care Economy
We are collections of our lived experiences, and it is through understanding ourselves and relating to others that we can create new solutions. Community challenges affect each of us differently, and imaging solutions collectively ensures these ideas could exist in practice.
The goal is not to escape the challenges, but rather embrace them. Consider this an anti-escape room, where rather than running out, we are running towards some of the most pressing problems our society faces today.
Care
care: an evening of storytelling
In the season of love and grand gestures, let's not forget the importance of care and its smaller moments. Think of a moment you felt cared for. Who do you care about? How do you show that you care? What moment of kindness stands out to you? How do you care for yourself? Where do you go to feel care? Who do you go to?
There is magic in these moments, in what can be seen as the mundane, in the rituals where we nurture ourselves and others. These moments are sacred and while not always for the stage, we are going to shed a little light on the moments and people that stand out to you at the Brooklyn Art Haus, on Sunday February 18th, through storytelling.
If you would like to share a story on stage, you will have up to 5 minutes to share your story as it relates to how you have seen or experienced care and how this moment has impacted you. If selected, you will need to submit your story a week before the event itself. Please submit your interest in participating by Friday, February 9th here.
